1. Shooting in LA last week brought me the absolute honor to work with the best food stylist in the industry- Norman Walton Stewart III... this was our brainchild after shooting donuts for half the day :)

  2. It is a joy to photograph people- I learn so much by observing them first without my camera, and progressing to something exceptional once I get behind my camera... this is my darling friend Kristen- she was so lovely to work with. :)

  4. Chefs & Champagne 2012 was a GLORIOUS, beautiful summer day- this was my second year shooting it-and I have to say, I really understand why NY'ers head to the Hamptons for the summer :) This was a perfect little sandwich prepared by Chef Cesare Casella, a personal fav of mine :)

  5. I first heard of Ted Allen during the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy days (I miss that hilarious show!)...but now he is this sensational host, author, and famous voice from Chopped :) What a stand-up guy. I was very fortunate to meet and photograph him for The James Beard Foundation, he was so friendly, I could have talked to him all day... couldn't resist getting this photo, happy weekend to all !

  6. I love my job. Truly, it is incredible to be able to do what you love for a living- and to enjoy it! One of my favorite gigs is shooting for the James Beard Foundation . I was thrilled to be selected to shoot the only all female chef guests I can ever recall ! Barbara Lynch and the All Stars was the title of the evening- which included the following incredible talents: Barbara Lynch and the All-Stars JBF Award Winner Barbara Lynch B&G Oysters, The Butcher Shop, Drink, Menton, No. 9 Park, Sportello, and Stir, Boston Rebecca Charles Pearl Oyster Bar, NYC JBF Award Winner Ariane Daguin D’Artagnan, Newark, NJ Pastry Chef Nancy Olson Gramercy Tavern, NYC Missy Robbins A Voce, NYC Sommelier Keri Levens Aquavit, NYC Check out the James Beard Blog on May 9th for the menu- perhaps I will post some of their delectable dishes that evening- but for now, I say this all girls club deserves its very own blog post :)

  7. Back in the summer of '07, I was about to graduate from photography college... and I expertly decided to go out with a bang. I created my own independent study class, and ran around Europe for 2 months. It was absolutely one of the best things I've ever done- I saw 13 countries in what seemed like 2 minutes, and I have been aching to go back and do it all over again! This is a fav of mine in Prague- certified the cleanest country I've been to so far. The architecture was out of this world, the food incredible, and the exchange rate at the time was about 20:1, so I was a millionaire :) Enjoy, and happy weekend to all !

  8. .. so I was shooting headshots in The Cloisters- which happens to be one of my favorite, semi-hidden parks in New York. I took a client/friend there who is about to move to Oregon- and she felt right at home among the gorgeous green and quietness nestled at the tip of Manhattan. We walked around for a little while to absorb the views- and I could not take my eyes off this gorgeous butterfly's wings. I named it Dali, because its wings looked as intricate and wonderful as Dali's paintings. Happy Spring transforming into Summer, indeed.

  9. Back into the archives... I found this wonderful photo of Ellie Krieger and Susan Ungaro (president of The James Beard Foundation), and just had to post! Ellie is absolutely gorgeous in person and ridiculously nice. She was extremely well spoken, knowledgeable, intelligent, and personable. I really enjoyed meeting her and hearing her speak. She spoke at The James Beard Foundation in support of her new cookbook "Comfort Food Fix". Definitely check it out here !!!

  10. Forgive my absence... I blinked and suddenly it is MAY! How did that happen? I have about 4 million extremely exciting things in the works, and as a good friend of mine was recently visiting my hometown of Seattle, inevitably it brought up my pride and joy for the city I was born in. I have a thing for signs- odd, interesting, funny, memorable... this was my mom's favorite bakery at the Pike Place Market and went quite frequently when my sisters and I were kids. Enjoy the beautiful sign, and if anyone is remotely near, run there, and have one of each possible pastry that they serve :)
