  2. I read that today is National Chocolate Cake Day! In chocolate cake's honor, and also because I wish I had this sinful cake in front of me at the moment- here is a photo I took with my very generous and talented friend Jenn Jung. She has been a chef for many years, and continues to sous chef for every famous face you can imagine. I love collaborating with her and talking for hours about art and food. Doesn't this sort of seem like a Gourmet tearsheet or perhaps even Bon Appetit?

Today... I say.... have your cake and eat it, too!

  3. If you know me at all... you will know this.. I love all things ink. Tonight while shooting an Indian dinner at the James Beard Foundation, there was a henna artist there! It was my first henna tat, and the artistry and originality of the designs were mesmerizing to watch :)

    Enjoy!

  5. I seem to be in an extreme wanderlust daydream these days... travel... all those things you want to do because.. its one of those things.....Mardi Gras in good ol' N'awlins.... Carnival in Brazil... I have been dreaming and planning several personal projects that will take me abroad, and so in that spirit, I can finally bring to you images I shot for Edible Brooklyn magazine.

This was my first time to the West Indian Day Parade. It was quite an event to behold and participate in- a true celebration of life, food, and culture which is just my cup of tea. I absolutely adored the costumes and colorful outfits the girls were wearing- these were my fav girls that I found at the end of the festivities. Vive Celebrations!

  6. Nicholette Von Reiche is one of the loveliest people I have met in NY... she and her husband are South African (and I am a sucker for an accent) so I was thrilled when we had to have several meetings to discuss our photoshoot. We had a wonderful time shooting with her. She is a food stylist turned holistic health coach, and her lovely demeanor is the perfect personality required for a coach.

I love my job. And I love that I am able to work with the most talented man in all of NY as my hair, make-up, and fashion stylist. He is a force, a genius, and I am lucky to know and work with him: www.charlesedwardbeauty.com.

These portraits are to tide you over until my website is updated with its very own Portrait section :) Happy Evening to all !

  7. Once upon a December, I was shooting my friend Maji's restaurant in Vermont, I made some wonderful connections and ended up collaborating on many other projects!

One of my collaborations was shooting this incredible tattoo artist named Mike in Easton, PA. Mike is the only real artist I have met so far, and with my ink addiction, it is truly a wonder to meet someone with his talent and mind. His shop is simple, no flash, no examples, all custom work. His work is unparalleled, and I am trying to spread the word- his meticulous style proves to be one of a kind. Anyone and everyone near or not near Easton, PA, RUN don't walk to Mike's shop!!!

  9. Ciao 2012! I was just immersed in the most gloriously gluttonous event for 2 days straight... thanks to Chef Cesare Casella, I was invited to go to the incredible International Day of Italian Cuisine- let me tell you... in proper Italian form, the DAY lasted for 2 days, and it was like a dream.

I could get used to waking up, going downtown to the International Culinary Institute and having non- English speaking Italian chefs demo-ing and preparing several dishes for me all day, while Illy coffee makes my favorite latte, among other wonderful Italian companies providing goodies for any in between moments of hunger. I didn't forget how much I love Italy since I tend to focus on Australia only- it refreshed the passion and love for Europe and for Italian culture. I am actually legitimately looking into learning how to speak Italian once and for all- I met so many lovely people there, and now have some connections!

This photo is simple, and yet one that caught my eye- the ever important staple of Italian cuisine- Pomodori a.k.a tomatoes :)

Enjoy! This year is already so delicious and full of promise :)
